Teaching in Bb Learn this Spring? You can enable your courses now!

You can now enable your Bb Learn courses for the Spring 2012 semester using our web-based Self-Service Application. Courses which you enable in Bb Learn are automatically hidden in Vista. If you don’t find your Spring course listed, it’s likely that your academic department office has not yet added you as the instructor of record (in PeopleSoft) to that course. Within 24 hours after getting assigned to a course, you should be able to use the Self-Service App to enable the course in Bb Learn. Just a reminder, you should attend either a Transition to Bb Learn or Bb Learn Quick Start workshop before you choose to teach in Bb Learn. And if you enroll in one of those workshops before January 3, you’ll be entered in our drawing to win an iPad!

Frequently Asked Questions about Bb Learn:

– When can I use Bb Learn?

You can start using it now by attending a TLP workshop such as “Transition to Learn” or “Bb Learn Quick Start.” It’s not too late to teach with Bb Learn for Spring 2012 – just visit TLP during January to get started. Learn more here: http://www.csuchico.edu/tlp/learn.

– When will Vista go away?

Faculty should expect to teach in Bb Learn during Summer and Fall 2012.

– Can I migrate my courses from Vista to Bb Learn?

Once you’ve attended a TLP workshop you will be able to get your Vista courses into Bb Learn. It’s a simple five-step process, which includes cleaning the course up and preparing it for teaching. You can then choose to add some of the new Learn features and take additional TLP workshops to answer questions you may have.

TLP is providing drop-in open migration lab times in January: see our workshop calendar for a full listing of the migration lab times, here: http://bit.ly/stX2bu

Blackboard Learn: Momentum is building

The momentum is building for moving from Bb Vlist to Blackboard Learn. To date, TLP has delivered Bb Learn workshops to 20 academic departments on campus by special request. We have offered over 40 workshops and have trained 262 instructors who plan to teach with Bb Learn in the spring semester. Many faculty will likely be ready to dive into Bb Learn in January 2012, and we plan to meet their needs with workshops, incentives, and expanded lab hours. In January, we will continue to offer the overview Transition to Learn workshop, as well as the following new workshops. See graph below showing our movement toward half of our faculty being trained in Bb Learn.
