New grading sidebar
Blackboard Learn has implemented a new grading sidebar across the discussion, blog, wiki and journal tools. This change should improve, but not dramatically alter your normal grading workflow.

Blackboard Learn has also improved its inline assignment grading tool. Now, you have greater control over your grading workspace, enabling you to expand your commenting area.

We’ve updated the integration between Blackboard Collaborate and Blackboard Learn.
Attending a Session
- Both students and instructors now click the Launch Room button to join your session.
- Mac 10.8.4 and later users can now download and install the Collaborate Launcher.
- This is a one-time installation that comes with a safe version of Java.
- This alleviates issues Mac users have had with Java updates in the past.
*** Important note***
Downloading and installing the Collaborate Launcher may take 10-15 minutes. Faculty and students should plan accordingly. Contact ITSS (530) 898-HELP if you have trouble with Collaborate Launcher.
View Session Attendance
Instructors now have the option to view attendance for their live sessions after the session has ended. To view session attendance, click the down arrow next to your session name and choose View Session Attendance.
Creating a Session
Instructors will notice a few changes when creating a new Blackboard Collaborate Session.
1. Ability to set defaults for all future sessions within your course.
For example, you can specify that you want the maximum number of cameras to “6” for all future sessions.
2. Streamlined options for session settings now appear vertically down the page.
3. Link the session to a course folder AFTER you create the session.
Click the down arrow next to an existing session and click Add Link.
Note: this does not apply if you use a single link to make all your Bb Collaborate sessions and recordings available to students.
If you have questions on any of these changes, please contact TLP at (530) 898-6167.
The course shells for all January intersession and Spring 2014 course shells have been created and should show up on the Bb Learn home page course list of faculty who are assigned to those sections.
Courses that start with the code 141 are January courses. Courses that start with 142 are Spring courses.
Now is the time for faculty to request any course combinations or cross-lists through their department. It’s best to combine sections prior to building or copying content.
Copying from a previous section
You can follow this tutorial to copy content from a previous section to a new course. Keep in mind the default file copy option will not work for courses that make use of interlinked HTML files or Camtasia videos that playback in web pages. If you have questions, contact TLP before performing a course copy.
What if you can’t see a section?
If a section you expect to see does not appear on your course list, you may not be officially assigned to the section in PeopleSoft. Talk to your department to verify this before contacting TLP.
