Immersive Learning in Preservice Teacher Education: Using Virtual Worlds

HETL Note: We are pleased to present “Immersive Learning in Preservice Teacher Education: Using Virtual Worlds” – an academic article by CSU Chico’s Dr. Paula M. Selvester. The article describes how Second Life was used as part of an online course to support preservice teachers and provide a means to investigative their beliefs and attitudes about gender roles in society. The data showed that using Second Life in this way created a more transformative and interactive online course experience which led to new insights about gender roles in society.

Blackboard Learn Workshops & iPad Giveaway

TLP is offering Bb Learn Workshops in July and August to prepare all faculty for teaching with Blackboard Learn this fall. Reminder: Each workshop you attend enters your name into a drawing for an iPad Giveaway! See the TLP calendar for schedule and workshop descriptions. Visit the TLP lab for assistance with any questions, tools, etc. We are located in the basement of Meriam Library, room 003 and 002.

Bb Collaborate replaces Wimba!

Bb Collaborate (formerly Wimba Classroom) provides a virtual classroom where participants can communicate in real-time and/or you can record a lecture for future playback. TLP offers a hands-on workshop where you will create a Bb Collaborate session, load content into the session, participate in the session and archive the session. (Length 1 hour)
